Video Editing Portfolio

Atelier Summer Festival 2024

Atelier is a Vancouver-based coworking group that gathers twice weekly. The aim of the group is to give people a space and community where they can work on passion projects. The members include students, graduates, developers, artists, musicians, and more.

As a member of the Atelier community, I was given the chance to collaboratively edit an event recap video of the Atelier Summer Festival. The video was shot by Justin Kung (@justin.kung), and edited by me and Rae (@raenytuesdayart)

Public Disco @ Granville Block Party 2024

In order to grow my portfolio, I decided to shoot and edit some short videos at the Granville Block Party in downtown Vancouver. I was not hired to do this, so I was shooting from the perspective of an audience member and later shared the videos with bside radio (which was in charge of the DJ booth at the Block Party) for them to use for free.

This turned out to be a fun little project, and it was exciting when bside radio shared one of my videos on their Instagram story.

Lush Heart

Lush Heart is my artist name, under which I compose & produce ambient, electronic, and neo-classical music, as well as market & brand myself.

Over the course of my (so far) short journey, video content has always been at the heart of my digital marketing strategy. YouTube was my top priority for growth, and I have since added TikTok to my mix as well. I wanted meaningful storytelling to be the core of my video content.

The majority of my work is a DIY effort. I shoot and edit most of my videos myself.

Rent the Dress

Rent the Dress is a small dress rental business based in Calgary, that specializes in maternity dress rentals for photoshoots.

As part of my social media management role with the business, I create video content to promote products, reach new audiences, and grow awareness around the brand on Instagram and Facebook.

Open Source Startup Podcast

The Open Source Startup Podcast (OSS Podcast) is a technology-focused podcast launched in January 2021. Produced and hosted by two Venture Capitalists, Robby and Tim, the podcast focuses on interviewing company leaders and founders from the open-source space.

I first joined the team with the task of taking over the audio editing role, and have since been working solo as the main audio-video-design person for the podcast.

Here is a testimony from my incredibly kind manager Robby, about my work for the podcast:

Illya has been absolutely incredible to work with. At this point, he operates autonomously bringing our podcast episodes to life. He's also a great communicator, and clear about his timeline for deliverables. I can't imagine doing our podcast without him. I couldn't recommend him more!

mobile.dev

mobile.dev is a technology startup focused on helping companies improve their mobile app development process.

Working with mobile.dev, I was tasked with creating an exciting announcement video for a new feature called “Maestro AI.” The company already had a following, and wanted to create a big splash with the release of this new feature.
